Quiet Start to July in the Tropical Atlantic...

The Tropical Atlantic is pretty quiet right now to start off the month of July, with no active disturbances in sight at the present time.

The image below shows the typical origin points (orange) and general paths (arrows) of tropical cyclones during the month of July:

While its by no means set in stone that a tropical storm or hurricane will originate and/or track through one of the above areas, this is a good general guide as far as the "hot spots" to monitor this month.

As I'm sure you've noticed, both the Gulf of Mexico and the Southeast to Mid-Atlantic Coasts are in favored areas for development based on past history.  If you live in these areas, be sure to take the time now to review Tropical Storm and Hurricane Preparedness tips and safety information, that way you're ready to go if something brews up later this month...
