Severe Storms Likely Upper MS Valley / Midwest Today...

Conditions are becoming favorable for a regional outbreak of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening across portions of the upper Mississippi River Valley and Midwest/Western Great Lakes region.

The most likely area for severe storms, including damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes, will be within the red and lavender shaded areas on this image:

The highest tornado risk will reside within the yellow shaded areas on this image:

Severe storms will develop near the Western edge of the outlook area by mid to late afternoon and progress East/Northeastward into the evening hours.

If you live across this region, please pay attention to the weather this afternoon and evening.  Review your severe weather safety tips ahead of time, and be prepared to seek shelter if threatening weather is observed or a warning issued.
