Severe Storms Possible Across High Plains Next Few Days, Along with Much Needed Rain...

In a post a couple of days ago, I described a rain maker that was getting underway for the Southwest and High Plains regions. The same storm system will also likely trigger strong to severe storms across portions of that same region during the next few days...


Below are the latest Severe Weather Outlooks from the SPC in Norman, OK for today:

Severe storms are forecast within the yellow shaded areas on the above images.  There will likely be a threat of strong to severe storms on Saturday as well, mainly across the central and eastern portions of Nebraska and Kansas, central Oklahoma and northwest Texas.

While an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, large hail and damaging wind gusts will be the primary severe weather threats for the next few days.

The really big story will continue to be the much needed rainfall that is expected to take place.  The latest precipitation forecasts from the HPC are shown below, for the indicated periods of time.
