Severe Weather Threatens Again Today - Not as Widespread/Intense

Severe thunderstorms are possible anywhere within the yellow shaded areas on the image above, mainly this afternoon & evening.  The greatest chance of severe weather, including large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes, is within the red & black hatched area on the image below:

A band of strong thunderstorms (leftover from overnight severe weather further to the West) is currently moving across middle Tennessee into northwestern Alabama.  Gusty winds and some spotty hail are the primary hazards with this activity as it continues moving Eastward this morning.  Widespread severe weather is not expected with this activity this morning.

Additional activity will redevelop near the Western border of the severe weather risk area this afternoon and progress Eastward this evening.  Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible with the activity from mid-afternoon into this evening.

Please pay close attention to the weather this afternoon & evening if you live in these areas.

Well, JOhnson County was under a tornado warning at about 5:50 today and a tornado did touch down about 25 miles from us. Lemme just tell you how UGLY and BLACK that cloud coming over us was. I was expecting it to throw down a tornado on us at any second. So far, THANKFULLY we haven't even gotten a drop of rain. I HOPE it stays that way-it appears the worst is going east of us in NC.....

Glad to hear you're ok! I hate when bad weather rolls in, it almost feels "evil" outside.

So do I. You should have seen the sky the night we did get hit by a tornado. We didn't have a drop of rain or hail or wind..just crazy cloud to cloud lightning that flashed so often it was like a strobe light..we had a little thunder too-very low. We didn't even think we were gonna get hit while we sat in our shelter until the lights went off and then BAM-it was on us and sounded like a huge blow torch...ripped the door to the shelter open. So scary. But, I am blabbing-sorry. Yes, the storm that dropped a tornado 25 miles from us was the wickedest looking thing ever. I have never, EVER seen a cloud so black. It was 6 in the evening -still light out and when that cloud came over us it got very dark. I've been in plenty of severe storms-this last one was my first tornadic supercell...you can just feel how very wrong it is. You see it and this sense of dread sinks in and it's like "Uh oh"....It is evil. Did you guys get any insane storms while you were hiding out in the shelter last week? Still so glad you're here with us :)
