T-Storms Trying to Develop West of I-35 in TX Hill Country


The above visible satellite picture shows cumulus clouds bubbling up and trying to organize (yellow encircled region) over the Western portions of the Texas Hill Country, along a slow moving frontal boundary.

The atmosphere is heating and destabilizing rapidly in this same region, so it appears likely that at least isolated thunderstorm development will take place in this region by 3 to 4 o'clock this afternoon.  Additional development may then take place further East/Northeastward along the frontal boundary (blue dashed line in the image above).

As pointed out in my last post on this subject, large hail and strong winds will be possible with any thunderstorms that form this afternoon & evening.  If the activity is able to organize, it could move into the I-35 corridor area (including the Austin Metro area) later this evening...
