Update on Winter Storm - Tulsa Area

As of 11am CST, here are just a few specific snowfall totals from across the Tulsa metro area:

1 mile East of Owasso - 13 inches
6 miles East/Northeast of Owasso - 12.5 inches
75th and Mingo - 12.5 inches
NWS Office - 11.6 inches

The latest radar image is below:

As you can see, moderate to heavy snow is still widespread across the region.  The darker blue shaded regions show where snow is falling at a rate of 1 inch or more per hour.

Media reports indicate that I-44 has been closed from Tulsa to the Missouri border and the Oklahoma National Guard is out searching that stretch of highway for stranded motorists.

Another report within the hour indicates that the roof collapsed on the Hard Rock Casino in Catoosa.

Below are some images from Tulsa being shared by folks on Twitter:

Yes, you're seeing correctly in the middle picture.  That is a baseball bat standing up in front of a snow drift in someone's doorway!

Needless to say, it is not wise to get out and about in the Tulsa area this aftrernoon.  Snow will continue to fall, heavily at times, through this evening.  At a minimum, an additional 4 inches of accumulation can be expected.  To make matters even worse (as you can see in the photos above), gusty winds of 30-40 mph will create widespread blowing and drifting of snow through this evening.
