While there isn't any known documentation as to the extent of damage or injuries that took place way back then, a hurricane moving along a similar path today would have the potential to cause widespread damage and pose a significant threat to life in that heavily populated area.
It's not a question of if....but when another storm will threaten the heavily populated coastline of the Northeast.
