Today in Severe Weather History for August 13

On this date in 1985, severe thunderstorms produced hail as large as golfballs, driven by 70 mph winds, in Logan, Kansas.  Trees were stripped of leaves and bark, crops were mowed down, and window and vehicle damage were widespread.  The state had to bring in snow plows to remove drifts of hail up to 3 feet deep!
