Today in Severe Weather History for August 6


On this date in 1989, severe thunderstorms produced widespread severe weather along and ahead of a cold front from West Texas, Northeast into the Southern Appalachians.  There were nearly 140 reports of large hail and wind damage during the late afternoon and evening hours.


Tennis ball size hail was reported near Buffalo, OK, and wind gusts of 100 mph were reported at Pampa, TX.
